Mosaic Lamp Instructions

Part 1

Before you begin, look through the design templates. Select your design and colors you want to use and lay them down on the template pattern. Find the natural line on the glass globe. Use that as a starting point to lay your pattern on. Apply a small amount of glue in a spiral shape onto the globe. Use enough glue to cover the area, but avoid using excessive amounts that could cause the design to slide or become uneven. Place the mosaic pieces onto the glue, following the pattern. Press them down firmly onto the glue to ensure they stick. No need to wear gloves at this point. It is much easier to grout with many large mosaic pieces that the small beads. Use the templates to continue your designs on other parts of the glass globe.

After you place the large mosaic tiles, your objective is to cover all of the empty space around the glass globe with beads. Apply a small amount of glue along the area where the beads will be place. Use enough glue to ensure that the beads will adhere properly. Tip: Slow down during this step otherwise the glue will not have time to dry properly and beads will slide or fall down. Extra glue can be applied in this step to help the beads adhere. Once your glue is applied, sprinkle small amounts of beads onto the glue and press firmly so they stick in place. Leave the curvy edges out because they will be under the lamp. After the beading process is complete, wait 24 hours before moving on to Part 2.

Part 2

Wait 24 hours for the glue to dry before you start to grout. Put on your gloves. Pour some of the grout into your bowl. Slowly pour small amounts of water into the bowl. Use the stirring stick to mix thoroughly. Then, add a small amount of grout powder into the water and mix well. You want to find the toothpaste consistency.

Apply the mixture onto the glass globe and spread it evenly. You will want to cover the entire surface of the glass globe. To remove any excess grout mixture, use your fingers or the stirring stick to gently scrape off the excess. This will create a smooth and even surface. Allow the mixture to solidify for 5-20 minutes.

Fill a bowl with water and grab the sponge. Begin cleaning away any excess grout mixture on the glass globe by dipping the sponge into the water and wiping away. Make sure to squeeze your sponge every time you soak it into the water. Too much water can dissolve the glue. You will continue this process until your tiles are not covered in grout. The tiles will look shiny but could have a haze to them. Feel free to wipe the haze off over the next few days with a baby wipe or a wet paper towel. Complete the process of cleaning the grout. Wait a half hour before assembling the lamp to the globe.
