Mosaic Lamp Instructions
Part 1
Before you begin, look through the design templates. Select your design and colors you want to use and lay them down on the template pattern. Find the natural line on the glass globe. Use that as a starting point to lay your pattern on. Apply a small amount of glue in a spiral shape onto the globe. Use enough glue to cover a small area, but avoid using excessive amounts that could cause the tile to slide or become uneven. Place the mosaic pieces onto the glue, following the pattern. Press them down firmly onto the glue to ensure they stick. No need to wear gloves at this point. Use the templates to continue your designs on other parts of the glass globe. It's best to place large mosaic designs and using as many of the mosaic tiles as possible in your design.
After you place the large mosaic tiles, your objective is to cover all of the empty space around the glass globe with beads. Apply a small amount of glue along the area where the beads will be place. Use enough glue to ensure that the beads will adhere properly. Tip: Slow down during this step otherwise the glue will not have time to dry properly and beads will slide or fall down. Extra glue can be applied in this step to help the beads adhere. Once your glue is applied, sprinkle small amounts of beads onto the glue and press firmly so they stick in place. Leave the curvy edges out because they will be under the lamp. After the beading process is complete, wait 24 hours to allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to Part 2.
Part 2
Put on your gloves. Pour some of the grout into your bowl. Slowly pour small amounts of water into the bowl with the grout. Using the stirring stick to mix the grout thoroughly. You want your grout the same consistency of toothpaste.
Apply the mixture onto the glass globe and spread it evenly making sure to get in between the tiles and beads. You will want to cover the entire surface of the glass globe. To remove any excess grout mixture, use your fingers or the stirring stick to gently scrape off the excess. This will create a smooth and even surface. Allow the mixture to solidify for 45 minutes but do not allow it to dry completely.
Fill a bowl with water and grab the sponge. Wet the sponge and ring out all the water, you want your sponge damp but not dripping. Begin cleaning away any excess grout mixture on the glass globe. Too much water can dissolve the glue, you will lose a few of the small beads, this is normal. You will continue this process until your tiles are not covered in grout. Your tiles will have a hazy look due to the remaining grout, feel free to wipe the haze off over the next few days with a baby wipe or a wet paper towel. Wait a half hour before assembling the lamp to the globe.
